Mr David Albert is the Senior Consultant and Head of the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) department at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). He trained in London and in Cincinnati with Robin Cotton before becoming the first full time paediatric otolaryngologist in the UK in 1989.
Mr Albert has covered all areas of Paediatric ENT especially:
- laryngeal surgery – endoscopic and reconstructive
- paediatric cholesteatoma
- papillomatosis
- choanal atresia
He has developed a number of surgical techniques in the UK including single stage laryngotracheal reconstruction, cricotracheal resection and various endoscopic techniques such as cricoid split and posterior grafting. He also developed bipolar tonsillectomy and suction diathermy adenoidectomy.
He has an active research interest in Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis and is developing a National Database and Tissue Bank.
